Nice place.  The third picture is just great with the symmetry between the cloud formations and the houses.  The first had me thinking that having the top of the house just below the snow on the mountain would have been better, but then that might have reduced the contrast, so now I'm not sure.  Nice composition in either case.

No 3 really rings my bells - great shot! The way the higher clouds mirror the buildings, all  separated by the lens created by the curve of the hill and the lower clouds (smoke?).
Excellent photograph!
Bob.

Gio:  Thanks for sharing your work.  I love the house in #1 and how well it blends in with the landscape.  #3, as others have mentioned is very well done also.

Mike.

Hi Gio,

Thanks for sharing.

Good use of short tele to compress perspective. I feel that post-processing could perhaps be improved a little bit to give images even more impact (curves and sharpening for instance).

Cheers,
Bernard

Glad that you enjoyed them and thanks for your comments.

As for picture #3, I took the picture in late afternoon after
a heavy storm was clearing up towards east.
The heavy grey cloud in the middle of the picture is not smoke but the remaining of the
storm. The warm low light helped in illuminating the buildings inside the canyon.

Picture #1 was taken near the volcanic area of Mt. Etna (the swony peak behind the house). The rocks around the scene and the ones used to build the house are from old lava flows.

Also like picture 3 - where was it? I'm toying with going to Sicily in a couple of months - I assume you'd recommend it for photography.

Hi John,
being Sicilian myself I can only describe Sicily as a place full of photographic opportunities.

In particular, the village in #3 is the old part of Modica, in the Ragusa province.
