Title: Hi and some landscapes..
Post by: :Ollivr on December 07, 2006, 11:23:28 pm
Hi all,

I am Oliver and have been an astute lurker at both Mr. Reichmanns website and over here for quite a while. I started out photography as a hobby in autumn 2005 when I went to live in the US  for a year (and bought a DSLR).
I shoot pretty much everything. Since this is all about luminous landscapes, I have some landscapes for you to look at. Would be great to hear some thoughts. No need to hold back with punches.

I would also be interested to hear how the colours are since I am using an uncalibrated, rather old TFT.

Thank you!

Oliver

The first image is the best. Personally I would place the horizon a bit higher in the frame and straighten it as well. The shot is not anchored on anything. Perhaps stepping down to the beach to get a closer shot on the sand. The steps down to the right detract instead of anchoring the photo. The colors are nice and pastel like.

I hope this helps. And by the way... your sensor is dusty!

I like the first two, am not sure how I feel about the third. THe fourth is a bit pedestrian, I think. The tree branches in the second one are a bit distracting, and if you are not adverse to a little cloning, it could stand to lose the dust specks and perhaps the little post on the left where the field gives way to the water.

Thank you guys for your comments.
ANdrew I agree regarding the anchoring - I possibly have to decide for either less beach or less sky.

And in the meantime I have cleaned my camera....

I like the 2nd one the best but I would clone out those branches on the top right.

Hi,

I like the first image best, nice colours and an interesting composition. The second is also nice, but I agree with previous posters that the trees in the top right would be better removed.

The third shot doesn't really do much for me, not much of a subject, it seems to have a blue colour cast & there is also quite evident vignetting

The lighting in the 4th is very nice, I'm guessing this was the main reason for the shot. Composition wise - the streetlight shadow in the foreground is a bit distracting and the path doesn't really work for me either

sorry to sound negative with some of my comments but I always like people to be honest when commenting on my shots so I comment on others in the same way

look forward to seeing more of your shots
