Therey's made by Hama, though sold under various brands. Many camera stores stock them. Not sure who sells them online.

They are amazingly expensive at about $41 (US) list price or $35 at B&H, but I haven't seen anything comparable for significantly less.
I can't believe how expensive the darn things are, for a hunk of plastic, colored liquid and an air bubble.
I got mine through Adorama's website.

oh, and low demand(though that might be a function of price point

I use a level I got from an RV supplies store. RV's need to be level for the ammonia-based fridges to work. I think they were two bucks each, so I got three.

Being a carpenter in a past life I use a 1.5" round bubble level sitting atop of my hot shoe. Because its round its omni directional. This is very useful!
They are also called a turntable level.
If so desired some office stick-things-on-a wall-without-damage putty holds it in place very well with out any negative effects to the equipment and easy to clean.

I was viewing The Luminous Landscapes Video journal and I caught a glimpse of a level device attached to the hotshoe.
Where can I find one of those devices?

Looks like a Bogen/Manfrotto 337 bubble level. Any good camera store will carry them.

It's pretty clear to me that the people who manufacture these bubble levels are the same folks who sold $600 hammers to the U.S. government :laugh:

hee heee...
that's 45$ for the hammer and 555$ for the paper work to prove that it is a hammer that the government could buy.

RV's need to be level for the ammonia-based fridges to work.
Pretty scary to think that aluminum barges are careering down the highway laden with containers of natural gas, ammonia, gasoline, and human waste.
I too was shocked re the level's price. Reminds me of flying--the same flashlight (something of a fetish among private pilots, even those who rarely fly at night) that costs $10 at Wal-Mart might cost three times that much from an aviation-equipment supplier.
