Title: NIKON D200 vs PENTAX K10D

I was all set to buy the D200 when Pentax announced the K10 would be available in November.  Since I own several Pentax lenses I'm inclined to go with the Pentax -- but I have no idea how it stacks up against the D200 since there are no test evaluations yet.

I'm assuming that Michael and others will be receiving the Pentax for testing.  If so, when is this likely to happen?  Before or after the K10 is released?

The newest Pop Photo has a K10 article. Price and feature-wise the K10 is competing with the D80, not the D200. Although the K10 is sealed, 10.2MP and sports in-body IS, it is plastic like the D80 and seems to be aimed at advanced amateurs. I haven't touched a K10 but if the VF is as good as the Ist D--and they say it is--it looks like a darn fine camera. Certainly will give the XTi a run for its money.

Thanks for that.  My main interest is quality of image -- noise etc.  If it's comparable to the D200 I'll go with the Pentax.  If not I'm going to have to buy new lenses.

Unfortunately there are no production images from the pentax at high iso yet.

I'm still wondering if anyone has any idea when Pentax will make the 10D available for evaluation?

Michael?  Anyone?
