Interesting cultural phenomenan for sure, but is it Art? Well, this gradually decents into the realm of disneyland me thinks:

I'm not sure I'd want to spend 38 cents, much less 38 dollars, on this kind of "Art."

I wouldn't go either: I'd be concerned about the fire risk.
Quite apart from a dislike for finding myself in small places with strangers who might go crazy without any warning.
But wait: it's for group-pleasure, isn't it?
You see how important is proper genre-identification?

Stuff like this is so easy to dump on that it's hardly worth the bother. :)
Years ago I went to an X Files "installation" at a sports arena. This was at the height of the show's popularity. It included themed rooms featuring shooting scripts & storyboard drawings, show props, "alien" figures & prosthetics and some short video pieces. It was fun and it worked because it was all rooted in the show's overarching mythology.

As estate agents and used-car salesmen tell you: "there's a market for everything, dear boy, absolutely everything!" but that's faint praise and more a sigh of resignation at the way the old bearded lady world had it right.

There are two streets in my eastern Ottawa suburb called Mulder Ave and Scully Way.
