Common grackle. Like Fish Crows they are very opportunistic and will pretty much eat anything. I once saw one carrying a small rat. Grackles are fond of small frogs, minnows and love dragonflies.

I think of grackles as the small bird with a big attitude!  You caught that attitude well.
