Title: PhaseOne XF Quick Look Adapters
Post by: spassig on July 03, 2018, 04:23:49 am
Landscape photography.
It is recommended to attach the camera to the tripod head with a quick look adapter?
Or better, mount the camera directly on the tripod head?
For my Sony and Hasselblad I use adapters from arcaswiss.
Both cameras and lenses do not weigh as much as the XF system.
I think the mounting direkt on head has better stability.

I use and highly recommend the Arca-Swiss L bracket for the Phase One XF body and use it with a similarly equipped tripod head. I use either an AS Cube or AS D4 head with the XF.

This is more than sufficiently strong and rigid enough for the system. Obviously, you need a similarly robust tripod to go with it but pretty much any 3 or 4 series tripod will work.

Mounting the camera directly to the tripod without some sort of quick release mechanism is a pain.  An L-bracket is the way to go.  Personally I use the Really Right Stuff L-bracket, there are others.  The quick release system the vast majority of pros and enthusiasts on just about any camera system use is one that uses the standard Arca Swiss quick release dovetail type of mount.  There are many manufacturers that make plates, heads, clamps, etc that conform to this standard.
