Title: P800 'High Speed' Driver Setting: Does it Make a Noticeable Difference?
Post by: Chris Kern on June 06, 2018, 12:21:22 pm
Question regarding print speed with an Epson P800—on MacOS, in case that's relevant:

Has anyone performed any rigorous testing of the "high speed" setting in the print driver?  As far as I know, this is simply a toggle for bidirectional printing.  Does disabling this option improve the quality of the resulting print noticeably?  If so, does the result vary between gloss- and matte-finish papers?  Or among different types of paper within each finish class?

I've never tested it on the P800 but on all the other printers I've owned if you've first done a head alignment you can't tell the difference. But as a lot of beginning printers forget to do a head alignment you will hear the occasional complaint about bidirectional printing lowering the print quality.
