The rendering, and therefore mood, of the photo is dark. Sadness, perhaps. But whenever I see thumbs so close to eyes, I can't help think about the scene in Bladerunner, when replicant Roy meets his maker (Tyrell).

I still have my eyes. Strong observation!! I found the scene and you are right.

The portait is about the pain of unconditional love.
