Post by: paul_jones on October 05, 2006, 04:52:18 pm
hi, im wanting to purchase a p30 today to run on a h1.

im going with the p30 instead of a p25, as i want faster shoot speed and usable higher iso. im also a fan of C1.

has anyone got an opinon of these backs?

thanks , paul

Hi Paul, good choice.

Make sure you get the P30+ and have the P30 while you wait. I shot for 2 weeks with a P30 while my P25 was being serviced and calibrated and I was really pleased with the pictures. The image quality at 800 on the P30 is as good as my P25 at 400. Overall there is very little difference in the detail recorded. It seems the smaller chip negates the advantage of more pixels. More pixels means bigger files and slower workflow. If I could have done a straight swap with no money changing hands I'd have gone for the P30.

Damien.

Hi Paul,

I went with the p25 over the p30. I did not need the faster shooting and wanted to have the bigger CCD. Wanted to be as close to full frame as possible to get the most out of my 35mm. Also I was told that the p25 will have a better trade in value when looking to upgrade. If you are more about speed and higher ISO I would go with the p30+.

just saw some files from a shoot a friend of mine did with the P30...very nice..very, very nice...add the faster shooting and 1600!!!!!! and a (hopefully finally) useable screen and a price under 20,000...hard to beat...of course no T/S and the smaller chip....
about that: my friend had never shot with a DMF back and so he called me and i walked him through some basics...i reminded him to watch out for the smaller crop, he said he had not even noticed...i would also prefer a chip as big as possible and my dream would be a P25 shooting as fast and as high as the P30+...but nothing is perfect i suppose...
