Title: Tree Swallows
Post by: Chris Calohan on April 29, 2018, 06:56:34 pm
First pair of the year... Just a tad bigger than a grown man's hand and they dart about like Least Terns.

What an elegant shot. Timing is perfect and the light also,
Bravo!

I agree with francois' praise, and also like how the branch leads into the composition.

Thanks! Early morning light up on the lake makes for a difficult shooting arena. There always has to be a consideration for the right ISO to shutter/aperture combination and with birds like these guys who dart about I generally sacrifice a bit toward a faster shutter. This was f/8 @1/1200, ISO 640 on a D500 w/200-500 5.6 at about an hour after sunrise. Shot from a moving boat.
