Title: Columbia Gorge still off limits
Post by: pcgpcg on April 15, 2018, 08:53:06 pm
This is the time of year when spring is about to burst forth and the Columbia Gorge is gushing with a hundred extra seasonal waterfalls, but unfortunately most of it is still off-limits, due to landslide and rockfall danger resulting from the Eagle Creek fire last fall.

If you were thinking of photographing the Gorge this year, you should be aware that most of the trails on the Oregon side are closed, and according to the USFS, will likely remain so until sometime in 2019. Multnomah Falls trail is open only to the first bridge. The road to Oneonta Gorge is closed, as is Oneonta Gorge itself. And, of course, the scenic hike up Eagle Creek to Punchbowl Falls is closed. One of my favorite locales, Multnomah Basin, is also closed. :(

The Washington side is all open, but that is not the side that is so photogenic.
