Title: Initiating off-camera flash with the iPhone 5?
Post by: FataMorgana on April 10, 2018, 02:20:01 pm
With plenty of studio strobes, Nikon flash units, is there a way to set them off with the iPhone?

I don't want to, or would rather not use the flash on the phone as this will not give me the results I desire, but will initiate the photo cells on the units, that I appreciate fully.

Is there an app or another way to initiate the units?

The idea is to take some quick images of items in a Bowens portable Infinity Cove thinngy (used to photograph eBay items and the like) but to have some control of lighting.

Thanks

Not many answers. I don't know of a flash trigger app. The other consideration is how are you going to control the manual exposure needed? There are some apps for that but in my opinion if you want to use studio flash then use a proper camera. Otherwise just use constant light or the modelling lights.

Not sure how you can control the exposure but this seems to be what you need.
