Thank you all for taking the time to comment in such positive terms. I am having problems printing this. If I use a matte paper I lose lots of the subtle differences in the dark tones. If I use a Baryta paper I lose some of the delicacy and do not get the misty feel of the place. Lots of work to get it right. Ken

The scene is gorgeous, but I find the brightness of the hazy area on the right draws my eye too strongly. Could you perhaps try darkening it a little?

Which printer/print software are you using that is giving you troubles?

Thanks for the comment Jeremy. I had already noticed that the area was too bright and had darkened it down a touch when I was "soft proofing" the final print.
Guido it is not really the software or the printer that is giving me problems it is trying to get the luminosity of the screen onto a paper print or at least getting as much of it as I can onto paper. It is not blocking blacks or blowing highlights it is preserving the mood of this delicate image. My usual mono style is high contrast drama and I can see what the print will look like from the screen with a fair degree of accuracy.
I use an Epson R2880 with a continuous Ink System printing using QTR, a mono only RIP. I produce my own paper profiles that produce both deeper black than ABW mode on the Epson and are more neutral.
I am never going to call myself a printing expert on a LULA forum where real experts lurk but I am not a beginner.
Similarly I have been using Photoshop since the early 90's although I am very aware that their are lots of areas that I have only a vague idea how to use to best effect.
I am always willing to learn and any hints will be explored.

I've been out of printing for a couple years since my Epson 7600 died, but I hope to be back to it shortly...
This said I'm wondering if using the Photo ink and a paper like Canson Infinity PhotoSatin would get closer to the luminosity you are looking for?

In the end I have printed this on Ilford Fibre Gold Silk using photo black ink. This paper contains a very small amount of OBA. The print is for a competition and will be viewed under lights which although they may meet the requirements for brightness and approximate spectral response may not be UV filtered so OBAs can cause problems. Ken
