Title: canon 22mp
Post by: ctz on September 27, 2006, 05:12:04 am
hei, where is the 22mp+. 16bit canon?

anytime we use to talk about the MFDB we just rubbish them, because " you know, anyway, at 'kina we'll se the new 22mpx canon and all those backs will be history..."

now, no supercanon or supernikon, instead we have new backs from phase, leaf, and new solutions for cameras (rollei, sinar, leaf or something, plus the h3d).

maybe the table turned?

A pretty reliable source told me a few weeks ago that Canon dropped it due to disappointing image quality. Maybe medium-format will get the last laugh.

i am no tecchie but I think we can assume that the same amount of mp, spread over a larger area, will allways be better..so medium format has the inherent advantage..the larger size..so a 645 (or near that) sensor and camera will always be 'better' than a 35mm sized sensor camera in terms of image quality from the chip when the mp's are the same.
(Though of course that is not to say that a 35mm sized sensor may not give quality equal to that of todays mf sensors or film in the near future)

It's possible that they're incorporating a lot of new technology into this new cam and this could also be the mark of a new body. Obviously, whatever they havve in the works will involve more than just an increase in MPs--though I doubt it will be 16bit.
