Title: Martindale from Hallin Fell
Post by: KMRennie on February 12, 2018, 08:12:38 am
Good forecast this morning, snow showers and sunny intervals. A blink of sun as the next shower sped in from the west. Cumbria, England. Ken

Another one this time a 3 shot pano. Processed on a desktop so probably a little more subtle. Ken

Both nice, but the pano feels just right.

Yeah, the pano is great. Those mountains down the valley add a nice sense of place for me.

Very nice! I love the composition of the first one a lot. It uses the color/texture elements as pure shapes letting me wonder quite nicely in the abstraction. I'm a pano fan too, but that one seems to crowd the snow covered field on left side just a bit to tightly for me. You show enough of the field that my eye wants to see it all. It jars me a bit not to be able to see it with some breathing room, but we see lots of consistent texture in the rock wall...

I love both but the panorama is fantastic!

Although I do love a pano I must admit, but my vote is for the first one, because the light in it is just so wonderful.

Excellent  :)

The pano gives more of a sense of place, but the light is much nicer in the first.

Thanks everyone I am still working on my shots from the morning. This is the first panorama taken during a snow flurry. I can't decide on the colour balance so would appreciate any thoughts on it. Ken

At a quick look, I'd say it should be warmed up a bit. I don't much like blue snow.

I do like the framing of this one! I'd push it a bit warmer and dig for a bit more details in the shadows...

That's my thought, too.

Working on a slightly different take on the last pano. This was taken as the next snow flurry was coming in. A bit more work with different colour balances in different parts of the image. I will work on the last pano soon. Ken

Love the first pano. The leading line from the wall comes out better in the first one. also the colors are great!

I still think you nailed it with the first shot Ken, as the light is much more interesting and beautiful in that one and even though the composition could be argued to be more interesting in the other shots, that light in the first one just lifts it way above any of the others I think.

I like that one a lot! Well seen and nice rendering. The color and shadow detail are really starting to work well for you.

Me too… This last version is more to my liking for the reasons mentioned by Guido.
This place has a lot of potential, time to establish a field camp there ;-)
