There is an exhibition in Cardiff of photographs David Hurn has collected over many years which is superb. My wife and I went today and we both agreed that the range of photographs was amazing as was the quality. It's mixed, not all famous shots although there are a good number of very famous individual photographs such as the HCB of Matisse. the commentaries supplied by Hurn along with some video interviews rounded out the chosen photographs. I shall certainly go to the next selection from his collection which has donated to the Cardiff museum. I believe it consists of around 3,000 photographs and I think all the big names in his field and somewhat beyond are represented. I think there are about 200 photographs in this first selection and they plan a series of such exhibitions so I shall be tramping down the M50 again some time :)
I can totally 100% recommend this exhibition which is better than the Elton John collection in London - of course YMMV.
