We have just published a hands-on review of digital wall frames (https://luminous-landscape.com/digital-wall-frames-hands/) which are now quite impressive and provide a real option for those who want to display their photographs on limited wall space.

Check out the software for the Samsung Digital "Frame" TV before buying. As I recall, I looked at this product in November or December. At the time, it displayed one image at a time, with no slideshow feature. You had to go in each time you wanted to change the image and change it. I was surprised about that, but did an online search, and found that others had discovered this after purchasing the device (or as was true for me, it was a deal killer).
Samsung may have changed the software or this product may be different than the one I considered.

They all seem to be 3:2 aspect ratio which is good if you shoot that aspect ratio. Not sure how it would handle 4:3 aspect.
I'm assuming the white matte is part of the image file which would be one way to handle other aspect ratios.

Think I'll wait for the archival model with barium suplhate ;D

Kevin addresses that in the video...

Did you check out

It seems to be in the same group.

Two major problems with that - 1. it has been out unavailable for almost 3 months; 2. it is an iOS only device - you can not load or control it with anything but iOS.

Thanks for that info didn't realize it. Also, the Memento 35 is out of stock until March in most frames. Seems like a hot item. Wonder how OLD will impact.

This looks like more electronic crap to fill up our landfills.
-
Do you have details somewhere on the site about the non-electronic frame in the middle of the wall on the video. I remember your talking about developing that but have not seen details!

Kevin said in the video that there would be more coming on that soon...

Kevin or others with one - how faithful are colors rendered? Memento tech support told me that temperature, contrast, exposure, saturation, and brightness levels are adjustable on the Smart Frame. Has that been enough?

Great to see the video on Digital Wall Frames. I discussed these in the LL forum last year (The Art of Photography-Discussing Photographic Styles-Beyond the Print). I think these frames will enable the evolution of Landscape photography beyond "capturing the moment". Many landscape scenes (e.g. sunrise/sunset) change with time. To "capture the ambience" might take images over a 30 minute period. With digital picture frames it is now practical to take and show an image every minute and thus cover the way the landscape light changed over 30 minutes.
My posts last year covered a range of techniques to exploit the capabilities of Digital Wall Frames.
I would love to see more discussion about how Landscape Photography can evolve by exploiting the capabilities of Digital Wall Frames.

fotagf8,
You are correct about the slideshow feature being absent - After reading the review and having a look online I went to look at The Frame locally. The assistant kept going back to the galleries to choose the image.
I didn't think anything of it at the time - but I came home to think about buying it as I had been looking at the 55" but was tempted by the larger 65".
I looked at other reviews online and found one referring to the slideshow in Art mode. The response he had from Samsung was that this was available in TV mode with a USB stick.
I don't think that is quite the same.
Though the images looked really good and I could see it on my wall, without the Slide Show in Art mode I will not be buying it.

Hi, I'm interested in the 'clever framing system' that Kevin mentions at 0:42 seconds right at the beginning. I know it's been mentioned before somewhere, could someone point me towards to that video or article, thanks :)
Yep, I guess I prefer the hanging print, to the hanging digital screen lol.

I recent purchased the smaller Memento frame for my apartment. I have had it "forget" the images I have installed a number of times. Now it seems locked on what appears to be a black frame so it doesn't display anything. There is also no clear way to "reset" the system that I have found. I have unplugged it for a day and when it reboots it still has the same issue - locked on a non-image.
I have put in a tech support request (24-48 hours response time) so I'll see what they say. I'll report back if it get resolved.
The images look great on the display when it working so I hope this get's resolved.
