Title: TIFs opening as RAW files in PS CS4
Post by: Rhossydd on September 20, 2017, 06:21:26 am: I export an image from CO 10.2 as a TIF file (8 or 16 bit), if I try to open it in PS CS4 it will only open in ACR as a RAW file. This doesn't happen in other image editors.
Opening in another editor and re-saving seems to sort out the issue and they open as expected.

I don't remember this happening with previous versions of CO, anyone else seeing this behaviour ?

Curious why it should suddenly start happening though. Other TIFs opened as expected.

Depends on if they have parametric instructions embedded in the TIFF that expects ACR to read em.

Quite. Why would they be there though ? I only want a straight TIF.

Why? Seems someone might have opened the TIFF in ACR, moved a slider and clicked 'done' or similar in another product. Now, with the PS setting to do so, the TIFF is tagged to open in ACR and not PS proper because it was 'touched' before in ACR.

No they haven't. It's any TIF clean out of CO 10.2.
Disabling TIF support in ACR solves the problem, but why this change in behaviour ?

Don't know what to tell you other than you now know how to avoid ACR opening the TIFF or JPEG. Try a virgin TIFF, open in ACR with the older settings. Make one tiny change and apply. Try opening it again; should open in ACR. But not with the preference's set not to.
