Title: Karanga Camp in the moonlight
Post by: MattBurt on September 11, 2017, 01:23:07 pm
I took this recently on my way up Kilimanjaro. This is at a little over 13,100' (3990 m). Pretty windy and cold that evening!

Thanks! It was definitely an adventure. I was missing my bigger gear at times like this but definitely not when I was hiking and carrying it!

Hi Matt,
What's your small gear? Mine's a Sony a5000, love the tilt screen.
I like the blue sky -- moonlight? -- but I wonder how it looks darker.

Great sky!  I'd be in my tent.  Looks cold.

Yes, the moon was pretty bright. This is how it looked to me once my eyes adjusted to the dark. I may play around with it a little and see how that looks too but I don't usually like photos that are what I consider too dark and hard to look at.
I was using a Pentax K-3 and DA 15/4 lens (a little gem of a lens) and just had the camera mounted on a little plastic Ultrapod II and perched on a boulder. I blocked the wind with my body to get a steady shot.
