I've finally taken the red pill and got myself a 31.5" 4k calibrated monitor. As you would expect, fonts are small, still workable but I'd like my tools in C1, LR and PS to be a bit larger if possible. Enter the OSX scaling.
What I'm finding out is that the different scaling options does not render the image 1:1 which I'd expect. Only half the resolution renders 1:1. So for my display which is 3840x2160 its 1920x1080 which actually renders the image 1:1 in my editing software.
All other scaling options does not show the image to be 1:1 when viewed 100%, they appear smaller when zoomed to 100%.
Is there any way around this? Am I missing something?

Diglloyd has made some remarks about scaling-
I cannot find the one i was looking for, ( maybe you can) but somewhere he says he prefers the NEC 2560 x1600 px for viewing 100% over 4K screens.
