Title: Dock Tarn
Post by: KMRennie on August 24, 2017, 08:32:01 am
Thanks John for telling me about Dock Tarn. The heather is terrific but the light yesterday was a bit boring. A cold front had passed through bringing huge clouds but by the time I arrived the dramatic clouds had passed and I had to make do with what I had. I am in a drama mood so the shots aren't tremendously natural. As I was leaving the sun came out and I got one shot with the light glancing across the heather. Hope you like them. Ken

I am in a drama mood ...
I really got to remember this for certain situations!

Both wonderful pictures.

I like your "Drama Mood"… Please stay in that mood, the photos are fantastic.

Thanks for the comments. This is a less dramatic shot as the light at this point was just drab. I am not happy with the composition either as I can't decide how much of the RHS to keep but gives a good impression of this small tarn. Ken

Aha, I had wondered if you had made it up there, Ken! Nice shots, but it does look like lousy light - but lovely Lakeland cloud.

On a selfish level, I am pleased to see so much colour - should get there myself next week.

Thanks Thierry I think that I am only happy with the second shot but lying in the heather is asking to give blood to every flying insect and heather hides a lot of them. If you are coming here John the ground is sopping wet. I have posted a pano in the new forum if anyone is interested. Ken

Love it.  I see no "lousy light", only well photographed beauty.

Best isolated tree shot I've seen for a long time.
