My Facebook page keeps coming up with a HDR product advertisement.

Is HDR dead, I hope it is?

Blatant HDRing seems to have run its course. More subtle use of it no doubt continues.

It's not dead.  As Dave says, it's now being used more and more judiciously to create great looking work rather than cartoons.
