Title: Epson PRO 4800

Hi
I purchased a 4800 yesterday . I installed the photo black ink instead of the matt black ink .
I normally print on Matt Paper - Heavy Weight . My 1st few prints have been lacking in good deep blacks . Is this as a result of the black ink choices ive made ?
Why would 1 use the 1 black ink over the other ?

Yes.  Matte black for matte papers, photo black for non-matte papers.  You'll get better blacks on your matte papers with the matte black ink.

Nill is correct. That much said, deep, rich blacks are a challenge for matte paper. You may find the blacks more pleasing for certain images printing on something like Innova Fibaprint Gloss F Type. With that you can retain the Photoblack cartridge in the printer. More expensive paper than Epson Enhanced Matte, but you'll save 75 bucks for each trip between one black cartridge and the other due to the flushing cost each time you switch between matte and glossy paper with this printer. Great printer, but this is a real pain.
