Post by: jgille on August 23, 2006, 03:06:08 am
Hi folks,

I have planned for a long time to create my photo web site.
Having some holidays (lucky me), I have finally created it:
http://www.juliengille.com (http://www.juliengille.com)

Thanks for your comments !

Cheers

With my usability hat on: lose the splash screen, it's a waste of a mouse click! You can have a short English/French summary on the home page just as easily so we can decide whether we want to explore the site further.

With my writer's hat on: please forgive my impudence as someone who can barely order a meal in French, but you might want to get a native English speaker to edit your English copy.

With my consumer's hat on: personally, I like to read a bit about photographs: where they were taken for landscapes, what motivated you for more abstract stuff.

An English friend has reviewed my site and I have updated it according to it.
It should be better.

Regarding other comments, I am planning to add some information about each picture in the near future.

Cheers

Congratulations Julien, lovely site. It's great to be able to access your photography from all the way here in Australia.

Julien,
Nice clean site!

I was curious to know what software you used to create your web pages?

I have not yet produced my own site, but it is on my goal list to get it running by the end of the year.

Thanks for the inspiration and nice images.

How about replacing that American flag? It's the English language - they just got lucky.

Oh, now you went and did it! Where's the 101st Airborne when we need them?

Perhaps I will remove all flags in a new version, so everybody will be happy

Don't worry - we're the 51st state anyway.

You could, of course, keep both sides happy by including both flags. The text for each would be the same, with the following small exceptions. For the English-language version, every "o" should be followed by a "u", so you have words like "colour", "phoutougraphy", etc., that don't occur in the American-language. And for the American version, you should change every "ou" to "o", so that you get "color", "Photography", "shold" and "wold", and "Luminos Landscape".

I have used a "made by hand" design. To manage the site publication, updates, etc... I am using Front Page.
