Oh yeah! Just about everything has an antecedent. There's a whole lotta T. Bone Walker in Chuck Berry's music and stage presence too. Pretty sure Chuck acknowledged both Walker and Louis Jordan as big influences.

He probably did - folks tend to do that once they are successful: they've paid their dues and so feel free.
It surprises me how brief is memory. I bet lot's of people here have never even heard of Louis Jordan, never mind know how famous he was in his epoch, and that he probably had more No.1 hits in his time than the Beatles in theirs. I was really shocked to discover a granddaughter, otherwise very well educated, had never heart of the film La Dolce Vita. It strikes me there's a parallel going down here: people who have never experienced the film process will not be able to understand the real, spiritual differences that some of us feel exist between that medium and digital.
So endeth the sermon for this morning; off to have lunch!
