Title: More on the RX10-iii

Following up on my black snake post in another forum, I thought this might interest some folks. Here's the original uncropped shot and an extreme crop of the snake's eye. Taken handheld at 140mm (~400mm equiv) at 1/100 sec and f/4.0. ISO 400. Pretty durned impressive lens I must say! I didn't realize at first, but the patterns in the eye are reflections of the overhanging trees.

I think you've convinced me to go for the III over the II. I can see that the extra length allows for good possibilities that I would otherwise miss.

How does the IQ at the long end compare with the images taken with D600?

I own both the ii and the iii and would buy them both again in a second if they were lost or damaged. They are also really good, 4K video cameras. Really good.

If Sony releases a version IV this year, and it doesn't go backwards in any important way, I think I'll give it a serious look.

I am still amazed at what I am able to capture with the RX10iii, both in stabilizing long focal lengths hand-held and in overall IQ from such a comparatively small sensor. You've privided yet another fine example, Peter.

I'm now waiting for my III to arrive. I'm trading in my I and my last Canon lens to get it, and I'm looking forward to hunting for snakes in trees!  ;)

I hope your experiences with the III live up to the expectations created! And I hope the lens is as good as the I. Let us know what you find.
