Title: Sony A9 5-axis image stabilization?
Post by: Dale Villeponteaux on April 24, 2017, 09:34:15 am
I don't understand what this means. There are only 3 axes in a 3-demensional  space: pitch, yaw and roll.
What am I missing?

Regards,
Dale

The translation axes: x, y, and z.

There are 6 degrees of freedom, 3 translation and 3 rotation.

Cheers,
Bernard

Yes, one wonders about that 'missing' sixth: the fore & aft unintentional 'zoom' effect.

Got it. I forgot about translation, which is rarely obvious in the movements of ships or aircraft.
And a mea culpa for misspelling "dimension".

Thanks,
