I got my GFX and had a little time to play with it. I want to share experiences with some lenses.
Canon TSE 17
I used a Fotodiox Canon EF - Fuji GF manual adapter. Fitting is good. The Canon lens can slightly (a few tenth of a mm) move sidewards.
All test pics in ProPhoto RGB, so no correct colors in the thumbs in the browser!
First I tested the TSE 17 (aperture closed to f11) at a Fuji event in Guangzhou. I shifted the lens 12mm down, set the camera on a podest that I could do a pic at 1/30 at ISO 640.
Image circle is sufficient w/o vignetting.
The sharpness just fades away at the last mm towards the bottom image corners.
I don't see any negative effect of the protection and ultrasonic cleaning glass which is located about 9mm in front of the sensor for retrofocus wide angle lenses that were designed for SLR cameras.

Canon TSE 24
Tripod. ISO 100. f11.
Shift 12 mm to the right side.
I gradually brigthened up the right side maybe half an aperture in ACR.
Image circle sufficient.
Also usable.
-
Zeiss ZE 135f2 Apo
image circle sufficient
slight vignetting at larger apertures, easily to compensate in ACR
a pleasure to focus with 100% zoom-in and the precise focus ring
I pre-set the aperture to f2.4. ISO 1000
sharpness good across the frame
Can't wait for an auto-aperture adapter for this lens :-)
-
Fuji GF 63f2.8
light. very sharp already at open aperture. i like the bokeh and the way is renders.
1. pic at Fuji event
3200 ISO, f2.8
2. pic at night in Munich
2500 ISO, f2.8
-
Contax N 400f4 Apo
(EF converted)
unexpected candidate to use on the GFX ;-)
sufficient image circle
slight vignetting corrected in ACR
hand-held at f4 ISO 1250, 1/250 s (!)
sharpness good but will be better at f5.6
even corner crop at open aperture not bad
... also waiting for the auto-aperture auto-focus adapter
-
Leica R 60f2.8 Macro
some vignetting at infinity, barely any at shorter distance
test pic @ f11
excellent corner-to-corner sharpness
-
Contax N 17-35f2.8
(EF converted)
as someone mentioned, the lens fully covers 33x44mm image circle from 24 to 35mm and I can copy that
three test pics at f5.6, at 24, 28 and 35 mm
slight vignetting corrected in ACR
the lens is generally weaker at 35 than at 24 and 28
corners soft, I did not test if they would become reasonably sharp at f8 or f11
still funny to have a kind of 18-28mm zoom on the GFX ;-)

Great, exactly the info I was hoping for. I have a Canon 24mm ts-e arriving Sunday, and the Fotodiox adapter arriving probably Monday for use with my Fuji GFX50S.

Thank you very much for your work. Have been looking for a proper test on how the TS-Es behave. Very helpful!

Hey Chris say hi to Alwick for me please 8)

Thanks very much for the tests - appreciated. Look fwd to when market sees some quality (auto) stop-down Nikon (in our case) and Hassy adapters.

Thanks for the tests, especially looking forward to working with the 17mm Canon and Cambo adapter. Hopefully the 17mm will have the same corner sharpness.
One note, on the Fotodiox adapter, my Nikon to GFX arrived yesterday. Adapter seems well made, solid, however I was not pleased with how it was shipped. Basically placed in a thin lightly padded envelope, nothing around the adapter and given to the mercy of UPS. No box, period around the adapter. So both flanges (GFX and Nikon) were exposed to damage. Seemed to come through OK, however. I have tried the adapter with several Nikon lenses but not used them on the the GFX, but with Fotodiox/Nikon aperture control is possible on Nikon lenses with F mount like 14-24 and 70-200. Will miss the VR however.

My Fotodiox EF-GFX adapter came well packed and padded in a small cardboard box.
Expensive at 200€, but it always costst to be the first.
Well made, not metabones league, but surely one of the better adapters.
Will try some OM glass on monday

I do :-)
He was at the Fuji Guangzhou event and was my model.
He brought the Cambo Actus with Fuji mount. Unfortunately the recently introduced Cambo Canon mount adapter that allows to set the aperture was not yet available. But he/we tested the 24mm Cambo lens and the Rodenstock 50. Both worked very well with the GFX. The Rodie is sharp like crazy, of course does not allow too much shift due to interference of the back lens barrel within the Actus.

some other lenses:
Contax CY 35-70f3.4
big surprise: no vignetting from 40 (or 42) to 70 mm!
no corner sharpness tested, I just played around a bit
Leica R 180f3.4 Apo
Like tested and stated before, easily covers the 44x33mm image circle. Sharp across the frame.
Olympus 90f2 Macro
also sufficient image circle at short distances and at infinity
only quick test showed good edge sharpness if closed down a bit
-
a few more attractive tests shots today at BMW Welt and Olympia Tower
Fuji GF 63f2.8 aperture series
the lens is really stunning
center crops at f 2.8, f4 and f5.6
-
corner crops at f2.8, f4 and f5.6
-
Leica R 180f3.4 Apo
corner crop at open aperture
light fall-off compensated
mind blowing sharpness

@chrismuc
Is that moire in the reflection on the building?

@chrismuc
Is that moire in the reflection on the building?
definitely
the moiré proves:
1. sensor w/o AA filter
2. sharp lens at rather large aperture with little diffraction
;-)
-
Contax CY 16f2.8 FE
the small sun shade wings on left and right side prevent a circular image circle
maybe I should remove them ;-)
-
Zeiss ZE 135f2 Apo
two more sample pictures with that lens at f2.4
real joy to use the lens on the GFX
focus peaking and the smooth focus ring operation allow precise manual focussing at large apertures even for slowly moving objects like frogs;-)

Is anyone else making a Canon EF > GFX adapter, or is it only Fotodiox right now?
Thanks,

Anyone using the hassy H adaptor? Specifically with a 35-90?

Kipon makes lots of GFX to ? adapters and they are 50% to 100% better made and designed. I got the Fotodiox GFX- Pentax 645 PRO adapter and it's good and I really like the Arca Swiss plate on the bottom of the adapter, but also heard bad things on their adapters so while waiting for my GFX I ordered a Kipon GFX-Pentax 645 adapter and wow it's nice and it's also made in China but so much better made.
Also when attaching the Pentax 645 lenses on to it the Fotodiox springs are not as tight as the Kipon so I am using the Pentax 80-160 zoom and that's some glass hanging and I trust the Kipon adapter to hold the lens tight to the flange better than the Fotodiox Pro, but I am only using the Arca-Swiss plate and would keep the Kipon if it had that plate....
Adorama is the USA seller.

I tried the Fuji H-to-G adapter with half a dozen H lenses -- but not the 35-90. I never could get the camera to fire the leaf shutter. Everything else worked OK. I sold all my H lenses.

Hi,
Thanks for sharing. I prefer the Hasselblad colors, but those are beautiful and i love that the camera has personality. Both the images of the X1D and the GFX remember me of the time of film when Afga, for example, had a particular look to it. You could tweak it and you can achieve a similar look with post nowadays, but I love this devices personalities.
