Title: The Dolomites
Post by: Hans Kruse on March 20, 2017, 09:10:07 am
One of my most loved locations in Europe is the Dolomites. I come there every year several times and the diversity of locations and the grandeur of the mountains are just amazing. A few examples are attached here.

Thanks every one. The Dolomites is a quite a large area. You can find pictures from all of the Dolomites here http://www.hanskrusephotography.com/Landscapes/Dolomites/. Use eventually slideshow to view them. Lots of pictures and probably too many :) Culling is not my biggest strength :)

I always enjoy seeing your Dolomite additions .  A bit of Bierstadt in some.

Thanks David, the reference to Bierstadt made me look for his paintings (I had seen a few before) and found this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EfWCGK-7TTg&t=329s
His extraordinary sense of composition, light (and shadow) and details is amazing. If I could do just a small bit of that in my photos I would be happy :) Yes, he was almost forgotten when he died, but interest of his work was coming back years ago. Some may shrug at the romantic style, but I think there is a lot of inspiration for any landscape photographer in his paintings.
