This is making me pretty crazy. About a month ago, I'm not exactly sure when, Safari began crashing instantly any time I invoked the print command on my document-only old Epson 1280. Safari printed just fine when I connected the printer to my MacBook Pro laptop so it was not the printer. I tried my own troubleshooting, including reinstalling the operation system OS X 10.12.3. It was frustrating enough that I decided to call AppleCare, since I had bought it for my late 2013 Mac Pro "trashcan." I spoke with a very pleasant and helpful person who listened patiently and walked me through some attempts to solve it over a couple of hours but to no avail. Eventually, he had the idea to set up a new user account to bypass whatever was interfering with Safari. He walked me through that and a lot of permission maneuvering and it worked! Safari printed when I asked it to. I had had no problem printing photographs from Lightroom and Photoshop on my Epson 3880. I went to bed happy.
This morning I opened Lightroom and tried to move a photo from one folder to another, something I had done many times before, and Lightroom said it could not do that, nor could it delete a photo! I uninstalled and reinstalled Lightroom, rebooted, uninstalled and reinstalled Creative Cloud, no help. I looked at permissions for Lightroom CC, the catalog, the hard drive where the photo files are stored. Nothing seemed to fix it. I plugged in the hard drive with the photos to my laptop and it worked fine with Lightroom on the laptop. It appears to be a problem with Lightroom on the SSD.
This afternoon, I re-called the advisor at Apple and he was great again, but could not solve it. Since Lightroom is not an Apple product, he suggested I contact Adobe, which I did. I spoke with a pleasant person there too, who, as the Apple fellow did, looked at my screen, went through a bunch of trials and concluded that it was a Mac OS X problem. Can you see I'm feeling like I'm in the middle, a football, being tossed about?
The last suggestion the Apple person made was to to do a "clean install" of Mac OS X Sierra on the Mac Pro SSD. While that might solve the problem, it seems pretty drastic. This means wiping my Mac Pro SSD, re-installing OS X Sierra, and then painstakingly re-installing EVERYTHING; all my programs, all my data, all my passwords and preferences. This will likely take days to do, all because way back when, Safari crashed when trying to print.
Any ideas or suggestions would be most welcome. Sorry this is so long, but I'd really like to just be able to use my hardware and software.

Before doing anything like changing permissions, make sure you have a recent backup. Then you could try to read the last two posts on this discussion (click on read all replies):

Not sure if it will help you. It's not clear why this problem is back again (provided it's the same one). Frankly, performing a full reinstall is a major work. I'm always doing such operations on an external HD or SSD. I then boot on it and when everything runs OK, I clone it back to the internal HD or SSD.

Many thanks to all who took the trouble to read through my troubles but with some more permissions fiddling it appears to be working, a GREAT relief since a "clean install" is a non-trivial experience.
Why oh why do computers have to be so complicated?
