Title: Mac Graphic Cards
Post by: deanwork on January 12, 2017, 11:00:24 am
How do you find out if your Mac graphic card will support one of the new 4K displays?

Never faced that issue, but perhaps best check with the card vendor.

EveryMac (http://www.everymac.com/ultimate-mac-comparison-chart/) has excellent details on all macs.
If you drill down by Capability, you will find the resolution supported by your graphics card

Great, thank you so much Chris, I wasn't aware of this site.

If my graphic cards do not support 4K do you think it is possible to put one in a say 2009 Mac Pro that does support it? I'm ignorant in replacing graphics cards because I've never had to do it. If I'm going to buy a 4K display I'd better find out.

thanks again,

John

You may want to look at MacVidCards (http://www.macvidcards.com/store/p49/Nvidia_GTX_980_Ti_6_GB.html)

Thanks for the heads up on that site. I'm sure I have info on my 2013 Mac Pro somewhere or could have spent some time with Google but your link got it done for me. Multiple 5k monitors, I wouldn't have guessed that. Thanks again.
