Title: At last, an 'official' Canon sensor cleaner!
Post by: ggosling on July 17, 2006, 04:33:56 pm
I've been following and contributing to a small discussion on dpreview and thought that it was worth sharing with the members here, especially as the subject of dust removal of full-frame Canon sensors has been such a hot topic in the past.

It appears that Canon has quietly launched a Sensor Cleaning Kit (CSK-E1) in Japan. It's available only from Service Centres and then only after signing a release that states that they are not responsible for any damage, oh and they have to give you a demonstration too!

Do any of the members here have access to a Japanese Canon Service Centre and perhaps more importantly, does anyone dare try such a kit?

The price is quoted as Yen4800 (approx 23GBP).

The discussion on dpreview can be found here: http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp...essage=19208744 (http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1032&message=19208744)

Take care

THis does seem to appearing on a lot of Japanese blogs now, but Google translation is not ideal, so it's hard to tell if anyone if getting good results with the SCK-E1 (Sensor Cleaning Kit Eos 1 - I presume).

Do any of our Japanese speaking members know of any on-line reviews?

Take care
