Does anyone know how to transfer processed raw files from Canon DPP to Photoshop CC 2017? Whenever I try to convert a raw file in DPP it opens Photoshop CS 6 and transfers the image there. I'm on a Mac running Sierra with the newest version of DPP 4.5.10.0.

Hi Peter,
I'm on Windows, so I can't help you with the specifics for Mac. The "Transfer to Photoshop" option in the Windows version of DPP doesn't offer a possibility to set the application's path, so I have to assume that it uses a Windows registry entry. Maybe it's similar on a Mac?

Unfortunately there is no option in DPP of where to send the processed raw image converted to a Tif, that would be ideal if there was. It seems that at this time Canon and the OS Sierra have no straight forward way of working together. I have seen a few mentions of changing the registry to make them better work together but that is an option I'm not willing to gamble with. My blunder was installing Sierra, it was a late night spur of the moment decision which I regret having done without having the option to back out of if I wanted... and I do.
I'll be watching and hoping for a fix and will be checking back here among other places to see if one comes about.

After voicing my concern to Canon Support regarding the inability of DPP to send converted images to Photoshop CC 2017 on Macs using the operating system Sierra, they basically replied that it's not their problem but Adobe's....... and I presume also mine and anyone else's who choose to use DPP while running Sierra. The Mac OS X 10.12 Sierra Compatibility Chart from their Support page (https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/support/self-help-center/canon-software) clearly states that there is No Problem with DPP with a Mac system running Sierra. Do they really need to be told otherwise? My question to them was, does Canon have any intentions or not in making DPP more compatible with Sierra? The frustrating response I received follows...

There have been versions of our software listed under the 10.12 operating system on our website. As for the compatibility with Photoshop you may need to check Adobe's download page to see if there are updates they may improve compatibility.

A couple of things to consider or try.
1) Open PSCC2017 and have it running at the time you invoke the transfer to photoshop operation from DPP 4.
2) Remove other versions of PS from your machine.
That said, I have PSCC2015, 2015.5 and 2017 on my machine and DPP opens the image in 2017.

Thanks Kirk, I've tried conversions from DPP while PSCC 2017 was open but it opens PSCS6 regardless. I'll see what happens if I uninstall the previous versions of Photoshop, that's well worth a try. Are you running Sierra?

Seems to be a missing feature in DPP as it does not allow you to select the external editor like most other programmes. It should be a drop down menu. So appears to be a Canon issue as these days most users will acquire multiple versions of Photoshop just by updates.
