Title: Epson 4800 cutter and paper thickness
Post by: Pete JF on July 09, 2006, 11:17:51 pm
HI

What is the paper thickness/weight limit on the built in paper cuter..Epson 4800?

Im using the Lexjet equivalent of Innova's Fibre Gloss F..."Sunset Air Dried Gloss", same stuff, in 17" rolls..Im worried that it's to thick for the cutter.

Anyone know this or have a reliable source for this specification?

In the manual Epson state that the cutter can do 2000 cuts.... on epson matte paper (I  presume this is 160gsm)
Thicker paper will reduce the number of cuts... Epson premium photo glossy (280gsm)  will reduce it to +-1500 cuts.
Using canvas (definitively I do not recommend this) will kill the blade in 100 cuts!

And if the cutter lost his sharpness will you see it on the paper edge...fibers!
