I am interested in shooting 4K with my Sony FS700 and it looks like the Inferno may be a good way to do that.
The only problem is that when I look at the specs on their website, everything has an asterisk on it that goes to a disclaimer 'available in future firmware updates'.
So I am not clear on what the present version can actually do.
Anyone have some experience with the Inferno or know when the 'future firmware updates' will be available?

To be sure, rent one and test it. Even cameras that claim to have a clean hdmi signal doesn't mean everything is compatible. Shoot some sessions that matchs the style and creative briefs you work in, try the Atmos, maybe an Odessy and also shoot the same scene in camera. Transcode everything to the highest quality codec and file you can, drop them into resolve and work a few. Sometimes you'll get a better quality out of a recorder, sometimes you want.
Some of these little recorders can produce blocking some can produce a much cleaner file, but testing is the only way to find out.

The fs 700 could be a great camera, don't like the clip on magnifier of the evf and it only shoots 22mbs (bits, not bytes) which makes 8 bit pretty thin, but it does depend on what you shoot.
