Title: purchase in canada
Post by: rmarien on June 27, 2006, 11:23:08 pm
I live in Montreal and am interested in buying an ipf5000. Canon Canada informs me that it will not be available here until September and at a msrp of $2950 cdn.

As I have the summer to experiment, I would like to have it sooner.

Any advice on buying it on line in the US at a price of 1945 at BH photo, despite the fact it comes with a US warranty only. Are factory defects requiring service likely on this new product? Do the savings make it worthwhile gambling on the warranty?

Thanks

rmarien, i dont know about canon printers, but i have a 5D with american warranty, and when i brought it to the canon service dept on cote-de-liesse there was no problem at all. i dont know what the official policy is, but it seems to me there is no problem bringing canon products to the service center, no matter where they were bought, as long as you have the warranty.

Whoever you spoke to at Canon was wrong.

Call either Vistek or Henrys in Toronto. They are both selling the iPF5000.

rmarien, have you checked Lozeau and Royal Photo? they probably have it.
