I am planning on shooting a series of non-fiction videos in 4K this year.
I had originally planned to distribute them on Blu-ray DVD's until I found out how expensive they are to duplicate.
I am hoping that members of this forum can perhaps recommend some more economical methods of distribution. Each video will be 60-90 minutes in length.

Maybe some good news for distribution. "new UHD Blu-Ray announcements" found this a Cinema5d.com

How big are the files? 32 GB memory sticks might be the cheapest option and close to BluRay capacity, or downloadable files (not streaming) from a cloud service somewhere (not free with huge files).
Planning to use BluRay means converting from 4K to tightly packed HD anyway. There is no practical way to deliver 4K content at the moment, and very few can view them anyway.

Answers given in this thread confirm the
Experience we have here regarding 4k delivery.
There is not that we know a satisfactory answer
At the present time.
It sort of confirm a fact that I always thought:
4k has been above all a marketing claim to sell
More massively a product that currently aint
Manageable in all the chain. It is only usefull for
Reframing, and that belongs to the artistic aspect,
And for "gaining reso" because of the downsampling
To standarts,
And that belongs to the cosmetic aspect.
Then, it seems that there is a science of conforming.
Some people know, others do not. Because I sometimes
See 720p hd that are absolutly stunning and could compeat
With higher res and 2k that are full of artifacts and look 720.
In the philosophical aspect, the democratisation of video
Is not IMO well understood because of the brain washing
That has taken place in the sense that amateurs, indy, small
Houses are talking mainly about crisp resolutions and so on,
Domain reserved to big team, huge mediums and technical
Skills that are not accesible to everyone. They sold an illusion:
"be Hollywood!"
And it worked.

I has been almost 6 months since I posted this request.
Has anyone found a way to distribute 4K videos to consumers?

Hi
The guys who posted the replies above are some of the most experienced on the Forum. Unless there has been some major change in technology or streaming capacity I think nothing will have changed.

Because it hasn't been put up here yet.... Records to SD cards, because really, there isn't another good method yet.

Thanks, Joe. This seems like the perfect solution.
