Just finished watching LLVJ #14 (great job guys!) and the Lightroom bonus tutorial DVD.
I wish that Adobe would release a Windows version ASAP so I can use it! ;-(
However, for Lightroom to be an effective DAM tool (Library functions) for me (and probably for many other photographers), we will need multi-user access to the library, or the ability to duplicate and distribute libraries (or subsets of a library). For example, my wife does a lot of web design work on the Bear Creek Sanctuary (www.bearcreeksanctuary.com) site and needs access to the library for ratings and keywords to find images in my collection of Bear Creek photos (11K shots and climbing!).
ivmp has an interesting approach with the ability to distribute their catalogues (equivalent to a LR Library for the most part) with only image thumbnails (so your copyrighted intellectual property is never distributed), with a read-only/free reader application. Great idea for small workgroups and/or distribution to clients as well.
Does anyone know if the Adobe engineers are planning for or thinking about addressing this type of requirement? Don't need a huge multi-user system (ie. hundreds of concurrent users)...just a few (two in my case). I think many pro photographers will be in the same ballpark....small workgroup support requirements only.
Some insight would be great, if there is any to be had...
