Title: Tawny Frog Mouths

I spend half my time in the leafy outskirts of Brisbane. One day recently, whilst brewing my morning fix of coffee, I espied the following scene through the, (cough!) slightly dirty kitchen window. I took dozens of shots with my 5D and (I thought) 20D.

Converting the RAW to tif, I noticed I was getting some confusing EXIF information. The 20D images were described as D60 images. That can't be right, I thought. Is there a bug in the system. Perhaps I should post this image on LL to inform everyone that this sort of thing can happen. Hah! But first I checked the box where I was sure my D60 resided. Oops! It was the D20 inside the box.

Anyway, I'll post the image. I think it's great but some of you might think otherwise. I'm interested in constructive negative criticism   .

They are Frog Mouth Owls trying to get some shut-eye, but this idiot photographer keeps pointing a camera at them.

That's a fun picture, Ray!

By lip-reading, I was able to determine that the guy on the right is saying, "That idiot is using the wrong camera! We're worth much more than an old D60!"

I love it!  If they had all had their eyes closed, or all had their eyes open, it would have been far less amusing.  You either lucked out or were very patient.

I'd call it "great".

Love your photo Ray. As Lisa said, just having one fellow's eyes open really makes the pic. I Love the textural element created by the foliage and feathers.
Just a small aside Ray....they are not actually owls....just Tawny Frogmouths.

You're quite right, Jule. I see the frogmouths belong to the order of Caprimulgiformes whereas owls belong to the order of Strigiformes. They sure look a bit like owls though.  (especially to a guy who has trouble telling the difference between a D60 and a 20D)

Cool picture.. those are some wild looking birds.   Nothing like that here!
